WINDPOWER 2008
The American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) concluded one of is most successful wind energy conventions on June 4, 2008 in Houston, Texas. Approximately 13,000 people attended the event which ran from June 1 to 4, 2008. Interest in the convention reflected the exponential growth rate the wind energy sector has experienced in the past several years. Driven by the Production Tax Credit, state Renewable Portfolio Standards and the need for alternative power sources, developers plan to install thousands of megawatts in the U.S. and several thousands more in other countries in the next year. This sector of the economy is growing so fast that demand far outpaces supply - providing opportunities for a variety of Michigan businesses. Several photos of the convention are provided below.
